Historic Buildings

FEATURED PROJECT

Crumlin Road Gaol

The project consisted of the refurbishment of a 3 storey Gatehouse block 548m² to serve as a main reception and shop for tourist activities incorporating cellular office accommodation and staff changing facilities. The project also consisted of the refurbishment of a 4 storey Administration block 2310m² to serve as a conference centre and museum which incorporated a 174 seat conference centre, meeting room, exhibition areas, ancillary office, IT and amenity accommodation.

This was a particular challenging and demanding project as this iconic site is listed under the historic buildings act. The associated services installations therefore needed to be sympathetic not only to the period but be able to be incorporated into the building structure in a functional, practical but yet unobtrusive manner.

The Crumlin Road Gaol redevelopment received the prestigious RICS 2014, Project of the Year Award.
